It is completely unbearable and very disturbing to see Kenyans in United States of America failing to negotiate and associate within themselves. We attend places together of course but we disagree to disagree. Remember, that is not God’s nature; God’s nature is to disagree to agree.
Our own African ambition and vision as Kenyans is lost in the woods along the beautiful streets we see in America. It’s not by cultural shock but our own selfish ambitions that will not take us anywhere. I mean to say our own ill motivated ambitions. Even an English man is saying “Black eye”, feeling bad on someone or planning some evil on someone. Remember, God’s nature is to disagree to agree.
We raise money as Kenyan community for a funeral course but these money is diverted to sewage repair, roof repair and renovating the house among many things. The destiny of money raised becomes distracted due to unwarranted plans when the really issues of the money raised are sidelined. Imagine people –I mean friends, relatives and sympathizers come to raise money for one common goal to have the funeral and burial procession done well and try to meet bills of the deceased if possible. Then some of us who have no strong bond with our siblings become day time a hyenas that eats anything and ofcourse even you.
In our own African traditional culture we have never used or diverted funeral money to our own use when our own are suffering in Africa. The theme of raising money in the greater USA is to help families back in Africa to get financial assistance. We came to USA and abroad so that we can help ourselves, better ourselves and others we left behind. Even the US government feels happy when we help our own families financially.
It’s absurd for Kenyans to ship the remains home of their own fallen in a plastic bag. When families reach at the airport in Kenya they are perturbed to see the body in a plastic bag. They came to pick the body now they face another snag. They are picking miracles.
The body they came to pick is in a plastic bag from Amerika. Unbelievable!
It’s time to appoint Funeral Committee to carter for everything and wire that money to the bereaved family directly instead of going through these agonies of misplaced agenda and satisfying themselves with money meant for funerals. Some have used this money for enrichment and dowry. All Kenyans in any State must learn to have short hands on funeral money. That is a curse if such money is stolen.
Apart from this shame and shocker, in some states when somebody has passed on they bring charges to a death body-oh he never used to attend funerals-oh he used to drink and so forth. Really is that how we should live? Some say “Oh I don’t know him”! It is embarrassing and our culture doesn’t accept that- I mean to stay clearly that it is unacceptable practice. If it is in Africa is that how you could have done? Sunrise and Sunset-I mean today it’s me and tomorrow it’s you. There is no shield on that.
Responsibly, Africans have community service and community responsibility. The two are in our culture and in the blood; we wear them as clothes. Some of you expect me to say Hallelujah when there are so many potholes for my sport utility vehicle to pass through. These potholes are so many that we need to level them so our lives can sail smoothly. There is Sunrise and Sunset—today it’s me tomorrow it’s you. Ants work in unity until the end. There is no shield for misfortunes; they face anybody old and young regardless of race, tribe or religion. The clock ticks as it was set by God.
God gave man the heart, brain and eyes to see. Every man needs to be accorded respect whether a live or death, male or female, Christian or Muslim as long as he is known to be from your background. We have come to and it’s becoming a tradition that if a Kenyan doesn’t attend your congregation you don’t attend to his financial needs. After Jesus picked 12 disciples (Luke 9:1-6) for local needs, he then picked 72 for distant needs Luke (10:1-23).
Think about it! I’m leaving now don’t scratch yourself and if you scratch yourself don’t peel your skin.
