Every day can be a holiday for Jesus!
Every day can be a holiday! Because every day can be a holy-day if we live them all for Jesus! Every day can be holy, sacred, cleansed and set apart to serve the Lord.
Some esteem one day above another, but we should esteem all days the same. (Rom.14:5) They are all the Lord’s days, they are all holy days!–Not mere holidays, but holy days! We shouldn’t love the Lord any more on Sunday than we do every other day of the week! We should love the Lord just as much every day and worship Him every day!
We can have Thanksgiving every day. We should be thankful and treasure every moment of every day and constantly be praising and thanking the Lord for it! We can have Christmas every day! If Christmas lives in our hearts and minds, we can live each day like Christmas day! We should love Him better every day, grow sweeter every day and be a greater blessing every day!–Then every day will be Christmas and Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday and New Years all in one!
“Every day with Jesus
Is sweeter than the day before!
Every day with Jesus,
I love Him more and more!
Jesus saves and keeps me,
And He’s the One I’m living for.
Every day with Jesus,
Is sweeter than the day before!”
He came as a meek and quiet, weak and helpless baby, and conformed Himself to our human ways of life. He was human. He got tired, He got hungry, He got weary. He was subject to all these things, even as we are, that He might better reach us with His Love and communicate with us on the lowly level of our own human understanding! (Heb.4:15)
And in the end, He suffered for us at terrific price because of His Love. He was spat upon, cursed and condemned as a criminal, despised in death! But as He hung on the cross in disgrace and shame and agony, dying for the sins of the very ones who were crucifying Him, He was showing love to the whole World! “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (Jn.15:13) Jesus is the Friend Who loved us enough to lay down His life that we might be saved!
The secret of calm and peace, rest and patience, faith and love is resting in the Lord!–Getting calm before the Lord and praising and seeking the Lord. Trusting is a picture of complete rest, peace and quiet of mind, heart and spirit. Even though you may be busy and in action, your attitude and spirit remain calm. Jesus said, “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest!” (Mat.11:28)
Help us, Lord, not to be so pressured that we put off our time with Thee. Help us to put Thee first each day, to bask spiritually in Thy sunshine, rest in Thy arms, drink deeply of Thy Word and inhale of Thy Spirit! Hallelujah!
“There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.
Oh Jesus, blessed Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God!”
But how do you know that what you hear is really the Voice of God? How do you test your inspiration? Scripture is the yardstick, the final authority by which you can measure anything that’s said. The Lord may give you new details or clarification, like a fulfilling or filling up of the gaps, but true revelations will never contradict the basic principles of the Bible, of faith in God and His Love and His Salvation!
Revelations usually come like a quick flash, but then you have to see if there is a Scriptural precedent where such a thing could have happened before. Look for a similar situation in the Word! Measure it with the yardstick of the Scriptures. Weigh it in the balances. Check it out with the Department of Weights and Measures, the Bible!
But the Lord doesn’t say to look at yourself or others. He doesn’t say to look at all the problems and troubles either. He says, “Look unto Jesus.” (Heb.12:2)
What is discouragement? It means not encouraged, without courage, or when your courage is at a low ebb. Discouragement is a loss and lack of faith. “Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.” (Rom.10:17) So when you get discouraged, the quickest remedy is to start praying and quoting Scriptures and reading the Word and telling the Devil he’s a liar. And your faith will grow, the doubts will flee, and you’ll be on the road to victory again! So when things look darkest, don’t look down!–Look UP!–Start praising the Lord and you’ll often praise your way right out of the pit into which the Devil is trying to cast you!
Jesus never fails, and He always answers when we stir ourselves to call upon Him with a whole heart. He says, “Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with ALL your heart.” (Jer.29:13)–And whole-hearted means getting in the Spirit, praying and crying out to the Lord with strong crying and tears!
Desperate prayer is very good for your own soul, it’s good for your spirit. It’s good for your spiritual condition to know that you have really poured out your heart to the Lord with a whole soul, with all your heart, with all your might!
When do you really pray? When do you really get in the Spirit? When was the last time you really poured out your heart in prayer with strong crying to the Lord?–You should!
The most important time you have to spend is with the Lord! To neglect your fellowship with the King of kings because you’re so busy with the affairs of the kingdom can be disastrous to your spiritual life and communion with the Lord! “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” (Exo.20:3)–Not even His service!–Nor even lost souls! So it behooves us to give God a little time, and we should give Him some time every day!–Every single day!
If you’ll just put the Lord first and delight yourself in Him most of all, then He can trust you with other things, because they will not come between you and the Lord. They will not supersede nor overshadow nor distract, but they will supplement and be a help and merely augment your service to Him!–And all things shall be added unto you by His power and His strength and His might and in His time! (Psa.37:4; Mat.6:33)
How are you going to know the difference between the voice of God and the voice of the Devil? Well, if the voice tells you to do something bad, you know it’s the Devil! If it tells you to do something good, you know it is God! This is true also if the Devil tells you to do something good but God has told you to do something better!
So don’t let the Enemy distract you from doing the best thing!–God’s best!
When you’ve rejected God, you have no god left but Satan!–Like Adam and Eve in the Garden, when they accepted Satan’s lies and believed him instead of God, and stole the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. (See Gen.3.) The greatest sin was not eating of the fruit, but rejecting God’s Truth and believing the Devil’s lie and obeying him instead of God! Those who want to believe the Devil’s lies will believe them!–But the Holy Spirit will show the Lord’s children what’s true and what isn’t.
Thank God for our knowledge of His Word which has brought us out of the darkness of this World into His glorious light and the freedom of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ! “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of Light!” (Eph.5:8)
God changed His whole System when it was proven that we couldn’t keep His laws.–He made a way of escape, of mercy, forgiveness and grace: Salvation. Now nobody has any excuse for blaming their problems on God because He has made a way out, a way to get the victory, a way to overcome our sins and faults and shortcomings and problems and weaknesses, whatever they may be. He has given us the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus! (Jn.14:6) Jesus paid the price, making the way. He’s given us the Message, the Truth, and He can help us to live the kind of life we ought to live.
He never asks of any of us a standard that is beyond our particular individual reach. Whatever He asks, we can do!–With His help and by His grace and through His power and His Love we can attain it! (Phi.4:13)
We must work together hand-in-hand, fighting together in the service and the Army of the Lord against the common Enemy. The Devil’s own tactic all through the ages has been to divide and conquer. If he can get God’s own people fighting amongst themselves, it weakens them, then they’re unable to fight the real Enemy and down they go. So let us not allow the Devil to divide and conquer us, but rather, let’s conquer him and his forces!
Things shall grow worse and worse until the End comes, so we’ll need to work more and more together in greater strength and unity to overcome the Enemy. (2Tim.3:13; Eph.4:3) So for God’s sake, let’s plead with God to help us be melted together in the white-hot Love of His Spirit, fighting together against the Foe!
The Bible was intended for the instruction and conversion of the whole World. Why should God cover its true meaning in such mystery and doubt that none but critics and philosophers can discover it? It’s the Devil who is the author of confusion! He tries to make Salvation seem so complicated or so difficult that people can’t understand it.–1Cor.14.33.
Don’t be led away from the simplicity of the Gospel, the Good News of God’s Love in Jesus! (See 2Cor.11:3.) Not everyone can understand strong doctrine or complicated theological interpretations, but everyone understands LOVE.–So stay on the main line and stick to the most important essentials, the most important doctrines of all–Jesus and His Love and His Salvation!
Let’s not argue over doctrine, let’s get souls saved!
We’re saved already, whether we endure to the end or not, but we’ll be given special rewards, special crowns, special medals, special honour and a special shining if we manage to be a special blessing while here! (See Dan.12:3; 2Tim.4:7,8; Jam.1:12.)
Of course, you’re going to fall down before the Lord and cast your crowns before His throne like the 24 elders in Revelation 4:10! Every time you start praising the Lord you’re going to forget all about that crown and it’s going to tumble off right at His feet. But He gave it to you, so you’d better pick it up again and wear it, because that’s the one He gave you! That’s what’s going to show what you have done for the Lord. And the Lord wants the World to see it, He wants the people to see it, He wants all Creation to see the badge of your faithfulness, a Crown of Life!
God allowed Adam and Eve to go ahead and disobey and to learn by bitter experience what they wouldn’t learn the easy way, by teaching, by the Word, or by being told. And when they went ahead and ate of the forbidden tree, God had to apply the rod and we’ve suffered for it ever since! (Gen.3; Rom.5:12) But through it all, the bitter experience of Adam and Eve, all their descendants, including us, have learned by comparison the difference between obedience and disobedience. We’ve learned the rewards of obedience and the consequences of disobedience.
“ALL things work together for good to them that love the Lord!” (Rom.8:28) Even our mistakes are not unprofitable as long as we learn by them! At least we don’t very easily forget the lessons we learn that way! So help us, Lord, to follow the easy path of obedience to the Truth of Your Word!
