When the Enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God will raise a standard against him!” (Isaiah 59:19)
Sometimes living for the Lord is a real battle and a real fight. But the Devil can’t lay a claw or a fang on you, he can’t inundate you or drown you with his lies if you resist him with the Word of God! The Bible is God’s standard, like a banner or flag that we can wave in front of the Devil’s sharp pointed nose, and he will flee!–He can’t take the Word! (Jam.4:7)
When the Devil tempts you, what’s the first thing to do?–Ask the Lord for a Scriptural answer! That’s what Jesus did! When the Devil tempted Him and lied to Him, He just quoted the Scriptures! Of course, the Devil also tried quoting Scripture to Jesus, but he twisted them and took them out of context. So the Lord just fired Scriptures back at him the way they should have been applied, “It is written!” (Lk.4:1-13)–And the Devil fled! He can’t resist the Word!
The best way to stop an attack is to counter-attack! The best defense is an offense! Wage a militant warfare against the Enemy! Baptise yourself constantly in prayer, soak yourself in the Word, memorise and quote God’s Promises!–Even to the Devil, as well as to yourself! You can put the Enemy out of action with the Word!–Bury him in a flood of the Truth!
You don’t get the anointing to obey, you get the anointing because you obey. Look how much the Lord hinges on your obedience just because He “said so”, even without your knowing all the whys or wherefores.–You’ve just got to do it, that’s all, and then afterward He’ll take time to explain why.
Jesus commanded the disciples to “tarry (wait) at Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high.” He said, “And then ye shall be witnesses unto Me” to all the World! (Lk.24:49; Acts 1:4,5,8) After ten days of obedience there came that final tremendous explosion on the Day of Pentecost when they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and it was such an explosion that the whole city gathered together by the thousands to see what in the World was going on!–And 3,000 people got saved that day! (Acts 2)
If you’ll believe His Word, He will give you the faith to take that step of obedience.–And the moment you obey by faith, then you get the blessing and the anointing to carry on! The test is to see whether you’re going to obey or not. But the minute you start obeying and working, God will do His part without fail! He will bless!
God is still the God of miracles, and what He’s done before He can do again if you need it and have faith for it! “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever!” (Heb.13:8)
Do you know what the word “miracle” means? It comes from the Latin root word meaning “to look at”, something that makes people look and pay attention! The purpose of miracles is to attract attention to the Message! God often uses healing and miracles to get a crowd for the sake of publicity so they can hear the message and believe it!
–Like when Peter and John met the lame man at the Temple gate, God picked somebody that everybody in town knew was lame and a beggar. A great miracle happened and the man was healed and all the people were filled with wonder!–They were wondering what was going on, and Peter was ready to tell them!–He took advantage of the opportunity to witness and preach the Gospel, and as a result 5,000 souls were saved! (Acts 3)
As long as you can say, “The Love of Christ constraineth me!” (2Cor.5:14), if that’s your motivation, then He will thrill and inspire you and confirm your witness and establish it with signs following–signs and wonders and miracles! (Mk.16:17,18,20)
God can inspire you in anything you do! No matter what it is, you can do it in the Spirit! And every task, whatever it is, He can make glorious! Even if perhaps you don’t have the most talent or experience, God can use you! In fact, that’s the way the Lord usually works–He takes the weak things to confound the mighty and He takes the people that really aren’t the best in a Worldly sense, so He can show what He can do! (See 1Cor.1:26-28.) And although you may not be the greatest in the eyes of the World, you’re the greatest in the eyes of the Lord, because you’re serving and obeying Him!–And He can make you strong when you’re weak, to show it’s His strength and His miraculous power! (2Cor.4:7; 12:9)
But before the Lord is going to do great miracles in your life and ministry, you need to realise that it is nothing of you and it is only a gift from Him! What makes you really great is the greatness God gives you–the Spirit, the inspiration! It’s the Lord behind it all!–Behind and above and underneath and on all sides! He does all of it through you! When you acknowledge this to yourself and others, then He’ll be able to show what great things He can do! Amen?
God always answers our prayers, but not always right away or in just the way we expect Him to. Sometimes He says “yes”, sometimes He says “no”, and sometimes He says “wait”.
When we pray for others, there are a number of factors which affect the whole process, including you and your condition, God and His Will, and the condition of those for whom you are praying. you don’t control the outcome of your own prayers completely, others don’t control it completely, and God has specifically limited Himself not to control it completely, which, of course, is one reason why you don’t always get the answer right away. The trouble may be with you, or it may not be God’s time to act or move, or the trouble may be at the other end, with those for whom you are praying. But when the conditions are ready for the result God knows is best, He will answer.
When the Lord doesn’t answer us right away, it tests our faith and draws us closer to Him, but His delays are not denials! (Jam.1:3) So never doubt for a moment that God is going to answer–and He will! He has to! Trust Him! And thank Him for the answer–even if you don’t see it immediately!
A lot of people try to go ahead in their own strength and their own wisdom and do what they think is God’s Will and God’s work. But you can’t serve God unless you obey God! You can’t just do what you think is right, no matter how good it is.–Your best isn’t good enough! It takes God to really do the job right! Your best, your own human strength, is not sufficient.
Do exactly what the Lord tells you, no more, no less.–One man thought he could do better than that, and he lost his job!–King Saul! He had God’s anointing and blessing as long as he obeyed and waited on the Lord, but when he started going his own way and disobeying, he lost it!
There’s no “little” disobedience to God, any disobedience is a big one! Nothing short of right is right! It’s either all or nothing at all with God! You’re either obedient or you’re disobedient! God’s Word says he that breaks even the least of these commandments and shall teach men so, shall be the least in the Kingdom! (Mat.5:19)
Wait and obey! That’s one of the most valuable lessons you can ever learn about serving the Lord!
