As many may know, Thomas Michieka a Maryland resident and a member of our community underwent medical surgery in December 2011 that required the amputation of his right leg. He continues to recover from the amputation and is now in a position that he requires a prosthethic(artificial) leg to regain his ability to walk and hopefully get back to work to sustain himself.
With assistance with some members of the family and social service referals all efforts for assistance from public sources have been denied or not yielded any fruit. All his shortterm benefits from his former employer have expired and his now faced with insummountable costs for the required daily medication and self sustinance. Without the ability to walk he is unable to be considered for any gainful employement opportunity. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, this case call for our collective urgent action to avert a crisis.
Thomas Michieka needs a prosthetic leg to regain his independence. The purpose of this appeal is to assist in covering the basic cost of the artificial leg. Towards this end a fundraising event is scheduled on December 15 2012 @ AFRIC LOUNGE -4400 RHODE ISLAND AVE, HYATTSVILLE MD 20722 beginning @4.00PM-9.00 PM. Any contribution towards this effort is highly appreciated.
