Mr. Peter Momanyi, who owns an insurance company in Durham and other four surrounding cities in North Carolina, had a misfortune last time when Musikari Kombo and Dr. Wekesa were visiting New Jersey. His car was involved in an accident which made him cancel his trip to this state.
On Sunday 04/29/07 Mr. Momanyi fulfilled his promise to visit Jersey City, New Jersey to address Kenyans. He said Last time I wanted to be here, but was involved in a road accident. Politicians from Kenya like to visit here and should be told that Kenyans need satellite voting and dual citizenship. It is time you Kenyans supported one of your own from here as it is very difficult to see these MPs from Kenya when you visit Nairobi. There is misuse of CDF funds and I will set up a constitutional committee to oversee transactions. I will also set up information centers in my constituency for easy accessibility of the Internet and information gathering and receipt. I have funded University Students from Majoge to do research and know why Majoge constituency in Gucha district is doing badly in national exams.
Mr. Momanyi blamed the incumbent MP, Hon. Joel Onyancha, for not reaching out to constituents. He urged Kenyans to support him as he was confident to win nominations under Narc-Kenya ticket. He told Kenyans further that I will represent the unrepresented who elect MPs and MPs don’t do what they are supposed to do like reaching out and develop the constituency. Former MP Mr. Zaphania Nyangwara did not do enough to help the constituency. I thank Kenyans in New Jersey for endorsing me and next time when I will visit after national elections I will visit you as a member of parliament. I need your prayers and support to overcome obstacles ahead of me.
He told the gathering that incase defeated in Narc-Kenya nominations he will not hop to another party but return to the US. He sensitized the Kenyans that in his constituency youth movements are fighting clanism which other areas are experiencing in order to elect a true, legitimate and development conscious leader.
Earlier before the aspirant spoke, some Kenyans from the area voiced their disbelief on roads within the constituency which were impassible. Mr. Solomon Barongo regretted that the road from Magenche to Kenyenya was in a poor state and very dirty. He also said that although electricity lines passed along the fence it was difficult for the common man to divert it to his house due to some difficulties. Mr. Charles Ogachi, a taxi company owner in Raleigh, North Carolina, repeated that Kenyan MPs are visiting Diaspora because they have seen that those in the Diaspora can help big in the Kenyan economy. He cautioned the electorate in Kenya to avoid recycling MPs who don’t deliver. Former Sub-chief Hezron Mitonda Ombati from Magenche market, the borderline between Transmara and Gucha said If I was to be given between Moi and Kibaki who to elect I will elect Kibaki because those tribal clashes at the border where I live are gone and Kibaki has brought CDF which has helped many students from poor families and other projects than what Moi did.
